For many tasks in the field of the pulse photometry it is necessary to have an optical image converter with high sensitivity and capabilities to obtain the short (<1 ns) image frame.

The gating image converters PMU-401.10 and PMU-402.10 type are equipped wiht one or two MPCs. The input window is made from uvoil glass or MgF2 . The devices are provided with the fiber-optic output. The image is gated by supplying pulse voltage to a grid electrode located closely to a photocathode and both elements from a high-frequency transmission line with 50 Ohm coaxial connectors.

These devices, if compared to other known designs, posess three main advantages: low noise level, small amplitude of gating pulse and broadband performance of the shuttering system.

The converters can be used in the devices for the pulse spectroscopy and in particular in the system if the "lidar" type.
